Who We Are

All Access Ortho Oahu was founded by fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons Dr. Darryl Kan and Dr. Gary Blum. Our flagship clinic is part of the orthopedic institute at Hale Pawa'a with access to a state-of-the-art surgical center and training facility, laboratory, pharmacy and imaging services. To better serve our community, we have additional locations at The Gateway at Mililani Mauka and Kapolei Village Center.

Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Darryl Kan

Dr. Darryl Kan graduated from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire in 1982 and received his M.D. from the University of Southern California in 1986. After receiving his M.D., Dr. Kan was a general surgery intern at University of Southern California and Los Angeles County Medical Centers, where he stayed on to complete a four-year residency in orthopedic surgery. His residency was followed by a one-year fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Inglewood, California. From 1982-1986, Dr. Kan played in the NFL as a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers.

Dr. Kan specializes in the treatment of sports-related injuries. He serves as orthopedic consultant for the University of Hawaii Department of Athletics. In addition, Dr. Kan is a member of the University of Hawaii Medical School faculty, serving as Assistant Clinical Professor in orthopedic sports medicine.

Dr. Gary Blum

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Gary “Kiki” Takashiro Blum graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1993. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan with highest distinction in 1996, and subsequently returned home to the university of Hawai’i for Medical School and Orthopedic Surgery residency. Following residency, he traveled to San Antonio, Texas, where he completed a one-year fellowship in Hand, Upper Extremity, and reconstructive Microsurgery.

He was very fortunate to have worked with Dr. David Green and Dr. William C. Pederson, both giants in their respective fields. Dr. Blum then chose to supplement is training with an additional fellowship in Congenital Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, where he worked with two more spectacular mentors: Dr. Marybeth Ezaki and another local boy, Dr. Scott Oishi. Dr. Blum has spent time as a visiting resident and fellow at several programs across the country, including Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He also had the good fortune of traveling internationally through orthopedic outreach programs; first to the South Pacific (Fiji, Western & American Samoa) with Shriners Hospital for Children, then Vietnam (Saigon, Hue, and Hanoi) with Orthopedics Overseas and the American Academy for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Blum, his wife Shawn and their four children Siana, Brady, Kaya, and Bella are thrilled to be back home in Hawaii with family and friends. He enjoys trail running and generally being outdoors, and continues to coach soccer, volleyball, and basketball. He is happy to assist you with any hand, elbow, shoulder and general orthopedic concerns.
